General Information About ADL Courses

Please bear in mind that you are buying a complete learning program and so your fee includes your learning materials, professional mentor support throughout, your exam fees, certificate and transcript.

Your personally assigned mentor is there to provide support when you need it, mark and grade your assignments and set and mark your final assessment. You should note that you will be required to consolidate and increase your learning through set tasks. With ADL, you learn in three important ways: reading, researching and reporting.

Please see our website to see what individual courses cover, and for a more detailed breakdown of what lessons teach. It is worth noting that our courses are carefully constructed to be applicable to all countries, not just the UK and that you will be able to apply your newly acquired learning to wherever you are in the world.

ADL Tuition Fees Compared to Other Modes of Learning

Full time classroom based further education courses cost approx. £5,000 per year and part-time classroom based adult education courses are approx. £7.00 per hour. Both these methods of learning are classroom based. This means that you learn at the pace set by the teacher, to suit the needs of the class as a whole and the date by which the course must be completed (e.g. the end of the academic year.)

One-to-one private tuition fees start from £15.00 per hour and can be a great deal more. ADL's one-to-one tution fees are £340 per 100 Hours module/course, an average of just £3.40 per hour. The advantage of one-to-one tuition is that it's tailored to your own individual learning availability and speed of learning, meaning you personally, can reach your full potential in your discipline of study.

How Our Courses Work

Some of our students take longer to complete their programme because they want to delve as deeply into the subject matter as possible. Others take longer due to them needing more time to process the information, if English isn't their first language for example. For this reason we do not impose any deadlines for assignments, or an end date by which the course must be completed. At ADL, you are in control of how much you learn.

Lessons for each course (or module when longer courses are taken), begin with a set aim and reading of the notes that provide a foundation for each lesson. The background reading is followed by a self assessment test and a set task which may include further research, networking or problem solving. After this you will submit a written assignment, which is marked and graded by your mentor and then sent back with any helpful and relevant comments. Finally, once you have completed all the lessons and assignments, if you have selected study option A when enrolling, there will be one final exam. This is taken under the supervision of an adjudicator at a pre-approved time and place, which can be at your home, place of work, or another place that you choose.

Our courses aim to give learners an education that will serve them for life. They will not only present you with information, but also guide you through a series of experiences that will improve your ability to understand, communicate, solve problems and continue expanding your knowledge and skills within your discipline of study. Therefore, by the end of the course, you should have a sound understanding of everything that the course teaches, plus more and a solid foundation from which to build or enhance your career or university prospects.

How Our Extended Courses Work

Our extended courses are made up of level 4 modules, so you can sign up for a Higher Advanced Diploma for example from the start and by paying upfront, you will save 25% on the normal course fee. You can also pay in monthly interest free payments (https://adlonlinecourses.com/payment-options), or even take one course at a time.

The terms of: Certificates (1 course), Proficiency Certificates (2 courses), Advanced Certificates (4 courses), Diplomas (6 courses), Advanced Diplomas (8 courses) and Higher Advanced Diplomas (12 courses) from ADL, are used to differentiate between the in-depth knowledge and skills you will acquire in your chosen area of study. e.g. Advanced Certificate in Turf Care Management, which includes individual courses: Turf Care, Sports Turf Care, Turf Repair and Renovation and Turf Grasses.

Your Study Options

By selecting study option A when enrolling, your qualification will be endorsed and issued by TQUK (Training Qualifications UK), an Ofqual Approved  Awarding Organisation, for which The Academy for Distance Learning is a recognised centre. In order to maintain our Recognised Centre status, we are subject to yearly evaluation visits to ensure that we conform to, and are meeting the high standards demanded by a company listed on the Ofqual Register.

By selecting study option B, you can complete the course without having to take any exams. Once you have completed all the lessons and assignments, you will receive ADL's Certificate of Achievement. This option is ideal in the majority of cases, where an approved qualification is unnecessary. Please note, that you will still enjoy the same level of mentoring.

All our students get access to the online classroom, where they can download the learning materials, upload assignments and communicate with their tutor. In addition to this, you can choose to have your course posted to you on a USB and in a printed format (Correspondence.)

Recognition of Your Course By Employers

The independent endorsement and recognition we have earned is reassuring to our customers, but it is important to know that our courses focus on helping you learn as much as possible, as opposed to many that primarily focus on teaching you how to pass an exam. Ultimately, assessment and endorsement for many courses delivered by other providers, merely means you have met a set criteria of minimum standards with regards to learning and in doing so, you actually learn less. Our effort is almost entirely on helping you learn, which means you will acquire a deeper understanding of what you learn and how to apply it.

Our courses go beyond national recognition. They are non-regulated courses developed over many years by industry professionals with the needs of employers in mind. Therefore, our courses transcend international borders because any employer looking to take on the most suitable applicant, will recognise learning from wherever it comes from.

We believe that we achieve the correct balance between your qualification being recognised and providing you with the in-depth learning in your chosen discipline, that will empower you to succeed. This is because in the real world, the person who can demonstrate that they have the level of knowledge and transferable skills necessary to an employer, will often be more successful than the one who might be endorsed as meeting minimum standards, but who in fact has only received a superficial understanding of the subject. If your main reason for doing the course is to learn, then the quality of learning should be the most important consideration.
